“My name is Joao Batista and I am 57 years old and disabled. I’ve lived in the U.S. for 27 years. I have 2 daughters that need me back home. I am here because of USCIS’s incompetence. In the Northwest Detention Center conditions are bad: food is cold, late, and it has rat feces. We are cold and hungry. I’ve been here for 6 months and I can tell you that nobody deserves to be here.”
