“Hello! My name is Karla Godoy.
I was born on December 21, 2001, in El Salvador. I am 25 years old.
I arrived in the USA in August 2024, seeking asylum, as my parents were imprisoned in my country.
I have not known whether my parents are alive or dead for more than two years. ICE is threatening to force my younger brother to face the same fate. ICE has also jeopardized plans with my life partner by trying to return me to El Salvador.
If I go back there, I will be condemned to die at the hands of the government, who will use my death to cover up crimes I did not commit.
ICE is also jeopardizing my health.
I have been diabetic since the age of 11.
I suffer from supraventricular arrhythmia, major depressive disorder with panic attacks, anxiety, diabetic neuropathy, and multiple fractures in my right foot and ankle with keloids forming on them.”
