I sign this petition to support my friend Mamadou Mouctar Diallo (A# 249 010 166), beloved community member who is a NYCPS high school student from Guinea, to demand his release from 26 Federal Plaza. Mamadou “Mouctar” was detained after leaving his courtroom at Federal Plaza where he attended his master hearing on Monday, August 4, as he was required to do. His case was not dismissed and he has upcoming court hearing next month.

MOUCTAR is a young person and a student at Brooklyn Frontiers High School, and this detention sends another chilling message to our NYC youth. NYCPS needs to step up to defend its students, and City officials need to advocate for due process and demand MOUCTAR’s release.

He has the legal right to representation as part of his basic constitutional rights but he cannot work with his lawyer in his case while being detained. As a student and asylum seeker working on his SIJS application, who goes to school, has a job, and pays rent as part of a shared apartment with roommates, MOUCTAR does not represent a flight risk and should be released immediately so that he can receive the due process he is legally entitled to. I will continue to email, call and advocate until I receive a reply and MOUCTAR is free!

Freed Mouctar! Free them ALL!
