I sign this petition in support of a mom, Martha, and her children Dayra (7 yrs old, current DOE student at P.S.89Q) and Manuel (19 yrs old, recent high school graduate from Patchogue-Medford HS) who have been violently separated by the cruel laws of DHS. After attending a routine ICE check-in at 26 Federal Plaza on August 12th, the family was detained. To cause further harm to the family, they were separated, and Manuel was kept inside the 10th floor of Federal Plaza, while mom and sister were moved somewhere else. For some days it was unknown where Martha and Dayra had been taken to, the ICE locator had not been updated as it had occurred with other families who were abducted.

Suddenly the ICE locator showed they were being held in Dilley, Texas at the infamous detention family center that once had opened and operated under Obama’s presidency, later closed, and now is up and running.
Manuel was moved to Delaney Hall detention center in New Jersey on Friday. We are concerned for their mental health and well-being, as we know that these detention centers are inhumane and have violent conditions. No person, no child, should be incarcerated in these places.

We fear for the indefinite detention of Martha, 7 yrd old Dayra and 19 yr old Manuel. We fear for their deportation and the risks they run if they are deported to Ecuador.

We need you to take action, and ensure that ICE does not get to take our neighbors, students away from us. We need Martha here, we need Dayra back in her classroom at P.S. 89 as the new school year starts, and Manuel to return to his job. They are part of the families you say you protect. We need you now. And we need you to ensure NO MORE PEOPLE, FAMILIES, STUDENTS ARE FORCED TO EXPERIENCE THIS VIOLENCE.

We need them home now! Free Martha, Dayra and Manuel! Free all the prisoners!
