Fully Fund Our Schools: Release Prop 98 Funds!
California Senators, Assemblymembers, & Leaders
Right now, Governor Newsom’s proposed budget withholds $5.6 billion in school funding guaranteed by Proposition 98. Here in San Diego Unified, this represents a loss of about $80 million. This funding is essential to retain and recruit staff for critical programs like Special Education.

As educators, parents, students, and community members in the San Diego Unified School District, we are asking state leaders to protect essential school funding.

That is money that was promised to schools by California voters when they passed Prop 98 decades ago. Withholding it from our schools is a broken promise that will impact those who most need support: Our students.
California is the richest state in the country. We can and should invest in our future by investing in our public schools. Our students need more support and more resources, not cuts!
As a leader and an elected representative, we call on you to:
1) Make sure all Prop. 98 money goes to schools
2) Say NO to any budget that cuts or delays school funding
Don’t break this promise to California students. We can’t wait!
