Nevada’s budget should put food on families’ tables—not bankroll corporate tax giveaways.
SNAP is essential and under threat. For the first time in the program’s history, SNAP funding is set to lapse during this federal shutdown, leaving millions at risk of losing the ability to feed their families.
SNAP keeps Nevadans fed and local dollars local. It helps kids, seniors, veterans, and working families afford groceries, and every dollar spent at Nevada supermarkets supports cashiers, truck drivers, and farmers. That’s real, immediate economic stimulus where we live.
Film tax credits are risky and low-return. States that chase studio subsidies too often get temporary jobs, shifting productions, and disappointing ROI, while everyday Nevadans shoulder the cost.
This is about priorities. When budgets are tight, we fund what’s essential first. Feeding families is essential. Corporate giveaways are not.
The choice is clear: Invest in proven anti-hunger programs that strengthen our communities and economy, or funnel public money to studios that can walk when the credits roll.
