Get Koch Industries Out of the EPA
Andrew Wheeler, EPA
The Trump Administration has put David Dunlap, a former Koch Industries employee, in charge of the research that guides EPA on what to do about the growing PFAS health crisis in our country. We can’t have this conflict of interest at the EPA, and we can’t allow Koch Industries to influence crucial decisions about what’s best for our health.

Dear Mr. Wheeler,
PFAS chemicals pose a serious and urgent health threat to Americans -- but your agency has done very little to solve this crisis, and the official you’ve put in charge of the research guiding the solution, David Dunlap, has a direct conflict of interest in this case due to his former employment at Koch Industries. I urge you to remove Dunlap from the EPA at once.
These chemicals, best known as a component of Teflon, are linked to cancer, liver damage, cardiovascular problems, hormone disruption, increased risk of asthma and thyroid disease, decreased fertility, and fetal development issues. They are found in the bloodstreams of an estimated 98 percent of Americans. A recent analysis by the Environmental Working Group estimated that more than 1,500 drinking water systems serving up to 100 million Americans may be contaminated with PFAS chemicals.
David Dunlap spent eight years as Koch Industries’ leading expert on chemicals and water, and Koch subsidiary Georgia Pacific is the subject of at least one class action lawsuit related to PFAS chemicals. Since Dunlap came on board at the EPA, your agency has decided not to set drinking water standards for these hazardous chemicals.
The conflict of interest is clear. Please take immediate and decisive action to remove Dunlap from the EPA, and keep corporate influence out of the decisions that affect the American people’s health.
