STOP GMU COMPLICITY IN GENOCIDE

President Gregory Washington, Board of Visitors, Board of Trustees (GMU Foundation)

For the past 16+ years, Palestinians in Gaza have faced a complete land, air, and sea siege by the israeli occupation. The zionist occupation has cut off access to life-saving resources, leaving 2,300,000 people without water, fuel, and the electricity that powers Gaza’s sewage treatment and single power plant. What we are seeing now is an indiscriminate bombing campaign, the use of internationally banned chemical weapons, the targeting of schools and hospitals, and the sealing of entryways/exits. Over 100,000 Palestinians in Gaza have either been murdered or trapped under the rubble as a consequence of this genocidal violence unfolding before our very eyes. The more recent forms of depravity witnessed in the Al-Shifa Hospital speak to the brutality, cruelty, and calculated nature of the zionist genocidal attacks on Gaza. These are a result of American involvement, as the United States is the biggest military supplier to israel, providing 3.8 billion dollars a year to the zionist military occupation.

Every bomb israel drops on Gaza and the West Bank, our universities bankroll through massive investments in the world's largest arms manufacturers–namely, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and General Dynamics, all of which are corporate partners of George Mason University. By funding the weapons used by israel, our universities are directly complicit in the colonization and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. We as the Students for Justice in Palestine at Mason have the power to change that. By divesting from weapons manufacturers, we are able to place targeted pressure on weapons' manufacturers to cut partnerships with israel. We demand our universities divest their endowments and other monetary investments from war profiteers who are directly responsible for the daily violence faced by Palestinians.

The Students for Justice in Palestine call the students, faculty, and staff take action to stop the US-backed genocide in Gaza. Furthermore, we demand for:

1. George Mason University fully divest from weapons corporations which arm israel’s occupation and genocide in Gaza.

2. Permanently end all university sponsored trips to Occupied Palestine, including Perspectives, Study Abroad, and Birthright.

3. University administration acknowledge the genocide of the Palestinian people at the hands of the israeli zionist occupation from war profiteers who are directly responsible for the daily violence faced by Palestinians.

The blockade must be lifted, supplies must be allowed in, and people must be allowed to return home; in order to do so, we must hold our institutions accountable for their role in enabling genocide. We ask that everyone pledge themselves to take part and signing on to our demands to the university, and take a clear stance against the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. It is imperative that we ensure accountability within our institutions and implement long lasting reforms that are ethical, moral, and just.

With steadfastness and confrontation,

President Washington & George Mason University Administration,

For the past 16+ years, Palestinians in Gaza have faced a complete land, air, and sea siege by the israeli occupation. The zionist occupation has cut off access to life-saving resources, leaving 2,300,000 people without water, fuel, and the electricity that powers Gaza’s sewage treatment and single power plant. What we are seeing now is an indiscriminate bombing campaign, the use of internationally banned chemical weapons, targeting of schools and hospitals, and the sealing of entryways/exits.

We demand your divest your university endowments and other monetary investments from war profiteers who are directly responsible for the daily violence faced by Palestinians.

The Students for Justice in Palestine, and the students, faculty, and staff have taken action to stop the US-backed genocide in Gaza. We demand for:

1. An immediate end to israel’s siege on Gaza and the u.s. military funding to the zionist occupation

2. George Mason University fully divest from weapons corporations which arm israel’s occupation and genocide in Gaza.

3. University administration acknowledge the genocide of the Palestinian people at the hands of the israeli zionist occupation from war profiteers who are directly responsible for the daily violence faced by Palestinians.

We ask that you consider our demands, and evaluate your position on the active genocide Palestinians are facing every day, as they have been for the past 75 years. The blockade must be lifted, supplies must be allowed in, and people must be allowed to return home.

With steadfastness and confrontation,
