HEAL ESEK HOPKINS! WE SUPPORT The Haus of Glitter + PRONK!'s aim to lead intergenerational + community-centered reconciliation and transformation at the former home of Esek Hopkins, commander of the slaveship "Sally." The Haus of Glitter occupied the home 2020-2022, thanks to a PARKIST Artist Residency with the Providence Parks Dept + The Providence Department of Art, Culture & Tourism. We want to participate in BIPOC-led community advocacy, imagining & proposals for the future of the three memorials to Esek Hopkins:

1) The Public Middle School in Esek Hopkins' name,
2) His Statue on Branch Ave (on a pedestal paid for by the city of Providence),
3) The Esek Hopkins House + Park.

We submitted a proposal to the Providence Special Committee for the Review of Commemorative Works to transform these memorials into spaces that bring us together with abundant hearts, open minds, and healthy bodies. We have faith in our community, our government and our institutions to hear our voices and build creative care-centered communities with us.
