Health Care Is A Team Effort - LIUNA Local 3000

The COVID pandemic has shown that caring for vulnerable people is a team effort. LIUNA Local 3000 members in frontline health care and social service settings have proven this by working together and going above-and-beyond to make sure their clients, patients, and residents were properly cared for during this unprecedented global health crisis.

During the pandemic, some workers received temporary pandemic pay increases or bonuses but these only applied to certain categories of workers for short periods of time. This band-aid solution doesn't go nearly far enough to address the chronic and dangerous staff shortages in frontline health care and social services.  It's also a slap in the face to the hard-working team members whose contributions were not recognized. And it fails to address the fact that health care and social services were in crisis even before the pandemic and that crisis will continue once the pandemic has ended.

All frontline health care and social service workers need to be acknowledged and compensated for the high levels of care they provide each and every day, pandemic or no pandemic.  Please sign this petition to tell the provincial and federal governments to immediately provide all frontline health care and social service workers with a permanent wage increase of at least $3/hour to ensure that they are paid what they're worth; that the teams providing care get the recognition and respect they deserve; and that people will continue to seek out careers in frontline health care and social services.

It's time we do the right thing and care for the caregivers!

Frontline health care and social service workers have gone above-and-beyond to make sure their clients, patients, and residents are properly cared for during COVID.  Offering only a few of the frontline health care/social service team members temporary pandemic pay increases is a slap in the face to everyone that provides care as a team and only contributes to the chronic and dangerous staff shortage that frontline health care and social services workers in this province have to grapple with every day.

We call on you to recognize that frontline health care and social service work is a team effort and that all frontline workers need to be acknowledged and compensated for the high levels of care they provide each and every day, pandemic or no pandemic, by immediately providing all of them with a permanent pay increase of at least $3/hour to ensure that they are paid what they're worth; that the teams providing care gets the recognition and respect they deserve; and that people will continue to seek out careers in frontline health care and social services.
