Help Mexican workers win a union contract at U.S.-based VU Manufacturing in Coahuila, MX

Customer of VU Manufacturing

Mexican workers are in a battle at VU Manufacturing, an auto parts plant, in Pedra Negras, Coahuila, to have the company recognize their democratically elected union, the Mexican Labor Union League - "La Liga," and negotiate a collective bargaining agreement in good faith. Send a message to companies that VU Manufacturing supplies that its union-busting actions are risking serious supply chain disruption in the U.S. market.

We write to inform you of a labor dispute with a supplier to your firm, VU Manufacturing, at its Mexican subsidiary, Manufacturas VU, S. de R.L. de C.V., located in Piedras Negras, Coahuila. Said labor dispute involves sustained and repeated violations of the USMCA and pertinent provisions of Mexican Labor Law which are vigorously enforced by the Mexican Government and the U.S. Government.

These violations resulted in a complaint against VU Manufacturing by the US Trade Representative under the labor provisions of the USMCA, and an investigation by the Mexican authorities. VU was forced to hold a representation election, and the independent union, La Liga Sindical Obrera Mexicana, won.

Unfortunately, VU Manufacturing has continued to violate the rights of their employees, and has failed to negotiate a contract in good faith. This has resulted in a second Rapid Response Mechanism complaint filed with the US Trade Representative on December 29, 2022. We trust you are aware that these complaints, if not resolved, could disrupt and interrupt supply accessibility, causing unnecessary supply chain issues for your firm.

We are properly and legally supporting the union which represents workers at the VU Manufacturing facilities in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, We have been asked to assist them in their just effort to address deplorable working conditions, which unfortunately do not reflect well on your firm’s labor image.

We request to meet with representatives of your firm to seek your assistance in urging VU Manufacturing to abide by applicable provisions of the USMCA and Mexican Labor Law.
