Support Tempe Mission Palms Housekeepers Fasting For Justice
Ohio Public Employees Retirement Systems
On July 13 and 14 three dozen Tempe Mission Palms housekeepers, elected officials and students are fasting for two days in protest of unsafe and hazardous working conditions. Fifteen housekeepers have committed to the civil disobedience.
Housekeepers, who clean up to 16 checkout rooms run around, from room to room, and floor to floor risking tripping and falling to get the work load done on time.
Not having the proper cleaning supplies to do their job, women are forced to bend down on their knees to scrub the floors. The fast pace can lead to injuries. After years of work, housekeeper Maria Madrid had a total knee replacement.
The Tempe Mission Palms Hotel is owned by the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Systems.
