Hey, Georgia: End This Misclassification Mess!

Georgia State Senator Josh McKoon

Too many employers across Georgia are purposely misreporting and misclassifying the job status of hard-working people as independent contractors, instead of actual employees, to deny them pay, benefits and job security.

Sign this petition now, and let State Senator Josh McKoon know that it’s time to end this abuse of workers in Georgia.

I’m voicing my support for putting an end to the misclassification of working people in Georgia.

Too many companies in our state classify hard-working men and women as independent contractors to avoid paying benefits and complying with protections such as minimum wage, overtime compensation, family and medical leave, unemployment insurance and safe workplaces.

It’s a sleight of hand that not only hurts workers, but penalizes our communities as well. Our whole state is losing critical tax revenue and unemployment insurance contributions because companies are skirting around the rules to cut costs and shift the burden to workers.

Neighboring states such as Alabama and Florida are taking steps to protect workers. We need our elected officials to do the same for Georgia’s workers. I know you’ve been holding hearings and listening to Georgians about how this is causing a strain on families and communities. Take action now to end this mess and the misclassification of Georgia workers as independent contractors!
