Help Save Puerto Rico From The Medicaid Cliff
Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Rick Scott
Federal funding for Medicaid in US territories is set to expire November 21, 2019. If Puerto Rico and the territories reach the Medicaid Cliff without congressional action, nearly a million people, including newborns, children, expecting mothers, senior citizens, and disabled individuals may be uninsured by the end of year.
On July 9, 2019, Representative Darren Soto introduced H.R. 3631: Territories Health Care Improvement Act to provide a temporary increase to the limit on Medicaid payments for territories of the United States. We strongly and urgently support this bill because human lives are on the line, yet Senators Rubio and Scott are not taking action to get the Senate Republicans to either hold a vote on the House bill or introduce their own version in the Senate.
We ask that you please join our campaign to ask Senators Rubio and Scott to support H.R. 3631. Will you sign our petition and share with your friends?

Honorable Senator Marco Rubio,
Honorable Senator Rick Scott,
Federal funding for Medicaid in US territories is set to expire November 21, 2019. Because of this, Puerto Rico is facing a humanitarian crisis known as “the Medicaid Cliff”. If Puerto Rico and the territories reach the Medicaid Cliff without congressional action, nearly a million people, including newborns, children, expecting mothers, senior citizens, and disabled individuals may be uninsured by the end of the year.
In Florida, there are more than 1.2 million people with families in Puerto Rico whose loved ones could be affected by the deep cuts the Medicaid Cliff would produce. Not only is this disastrous for those on the island, but it could also trigger another mass migration of people from Puerto Rico who cannot afford to have their medical services defunded.
On July 9, 2019, Representative Darren Soto (D - FL) introduced H.R. 3631: Territories Health Care Improvement Act to provide a temporary increase to the limit on Medicaid payments for territories of the United States and the Federal Medical assistance percentage for such territories under the Medicaid program. This bill is cosponsored by Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez and Rep. Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon.
We strongly and urgently support H.R. 3631 because human lives are on the line, and are asking YOU, our Florida Senators, to do the same.
We respectfully urge you to support H.R. 3631 and encourage the Senate to hold a vote on the bill. We ask that you please fulfill your responsibility as our Senators by working to fix this injustice faced by our territories. Please help protect the health and well-being of our people who are just as much U.S. citizens as those stateside.
Thank you.
