Petition: HRM, do not widen Robie Street — instead, choose homes, trees & better transit!
Halifax Regional Council and local elected decision-makers
- Not widen Robie Street at this time- the Transportation Corridor Reserve remains in place for future.
- Not waste $200m to destroy homes, cut trees, increase traffic and congestion;
- Optimize transit by painting bus lanes within existing road space (Quinpool - Inglis) & installing transit priority signals etc.
- Spend municipal money instead to improve service: more electric (not diesel) buses, more bus drivers, more transit shelters, lower transit fare, more micro-transit, necessary ferry/terminal overhauls, and improving public safety; and
- Repopulate the vacant Robie Street buildings HRM has purchased, and work with the province and non-profit sector to protect all affordable housing.
