I support the Nellie Bly Scholarship Program for affordable college and less student debt

Gov. Tom Wolf

Gov. Tom Wolf wants to create a $204 million scholarship program that will help more Pennsylvanians earn a degree with fewer loans, while encouraging educated young people to build their lives in Pennsylvania.

“The Nellie Bly Scholarship Program fills the gap after other aid programs so thousands of students can afford a college degree without crushing debt,” Wolf said. “This scholarship would help students get a college degree and spend less time paying off student loans and more time building a career in Pennsylvania.”

The need-based scholarships would benefit students enrolled in Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities: Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania. Students should not be saddled with crushing debt due to lack of state funding and investment. Future generations deserve the same opportunities and benefits that previous generations had. Thank you, Gov. Wolf, for this proposal. It would be a game changer for Pennsylvania students.
