​In Minnesota, we are over 95,000 housing units (rental and owned) short (Up for Growth, a national housing advocacy group) for those on the lower-income of the economic spectrum. This shortage grows year-after-year and is the major contributing factor to sky-rocketing housing values. This also contributes to the rising number of households who are paying more than 30% (typically cited as the affordability threshold) of their income on housing - some even paying upwards of 50%.
