ICE OUT PETITION: KSU, PROTECT STUDENTS

Kent State University President Todd Diacon, Administration

The Ohio Student Association chapter at Kent State University stands strong in its opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and their presence in Ohio. Beginning with a student walk-out on January 23, we will be collecting signatures of those who stand in solidarity with Minneapolis’s general strike, urging KSU to protect students from ICE. This follows ICE’s murder of Renee Good, occupation of Minneapolis, and arrest of student anti-ICE protesters at the Ohio State University on Tuesday, January 20th.

We want Kent State University Administration to respond to these demands:
  1. Inform the public of the policy of Kent State University towards ICE either through email or a website page.

  2. Commit to protect students by refusing to share student data with ICE.

  3. Treat the presence of ICE on campus as a CRITICAL emergency, where all students will receive a Flash Alert emergency alert through the established system.

  4. Declare campus buildings as private property and deny entrance to ICE.

  5. Publicly refuse to sign the 287(g) agreement and oppose ICE on and off campus.

This action is part of a nationwide strike to protect our neighbors and oppose authoritarianism. We call all students to sign the petition against ICE in Kent and on campus. At Kent State University, we refuse to stand by as our peers are threatened.
