I'm In: Pledge for Integrated NYC Schools
Mayor Mamdani
New York City remains one of the most segregated school systems in the country. Despite decades of sounding the alarm on the consequences of school segregation, New York City has yet to take the steps necessary to truly desegregate and integrate New York City Public Schools.
New York City’s children deserve schools that are culturally responsive, safe, supportive, inclusive, and truly integrated.
Mayor Mamdani and City leaders already have the tools, the resources, and the well-researched recommendations to act. With a swipe of a pen, they must:
Recommit to and adopt all recommendations of the School Diversity Advisory Group, including:
- Eliminate middle school screens
- Phase out segregated Gifted and Talented Programs
- Redraft school district lines
- Baseline funding for districtwide school integration plans
This petition is our call to action. Add your name and tell City leaders New York can’t wait.

We are calling on New York City leaders to finally answer the call to address school segregation by formally adopting recommendations and a plan to integrate NYC public schools.
New York City must recommit and adopt ALL recommendations made by the School Diversity Advisory Group, including:
1) eliminate all middle school screens,
2) phase out segregated Gifted and Talented Programs,
3) begin the process of redrafting district lines, and
4) baseline funding for districtwide integration plans.
Segregated schools are not inevitable. They’re a choice, and so is changing them. We’re asking you to choose change.
