Impeach Andrew Cuomo

New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie

Governor Cuomo made it clear that he does not plan to resign, despite the scandals plaguing his administration.

New details continue to emerge, demonstrating the extent to which the Cuomo administration went to obscure the number of New Yorkers who died from COVID-19 in nursing homes. The real numbers are about 50% higher than the reports altered by Cuomo staffers showed. New York has one of the highest COVID-19 nursing home death rates in the country. The timing of the cover-up coincides with  Governor Cuomo pursuing a multi-million dollar book deal on his handling of the COVID-19 crisis.

In addition to the nursing home cover-up, at least 6 women have accused the Governor of sexual harassment. Community Leaders, elected officials, activists, and even State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins have called for the Governor’s resignation.

COVID-19 has left millions of New Yorkers unemployed, on the verge of eviction, and surviving on food pantries. The crisis has only exacerbated the disastrous Cuomo budget cuts of the past 10 years that have cut hospitals, schools, transit, housing, and more.  The state budget, which is currently being negotiated, will deeply impact the ability of New York's most vulnerable to survive. New York's poor and working-class communities deserve a government that’s focused on investing in our future, not the alleged harassment, cover-ups, and toxic work environment created by the current administration.

If Cuomo will not resign, he should be impeached.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has built his administration on a culture of harassment, intimidation, and fear. Despite multiple scandals currently embroiling his administration at a time when the focus of the state government should be on long-term public health and economic recovery of our state, the Governor has refused to resign.

The state budget, which is currently being negotiated will deeply impact the ability of New York's most vulnerable to survive. The people of New York deserve a government that’s focused on investing in the future of New Yorker's poor and working-class communities, not the alleged harassment, cover-ups, and toxic work environment created by the current administration.

Now more than ever New Yorkers need to be able to trust our state’s leadership. Andrew Cuomo's misconduct is a betrayal of that trust and he should be impeached.
