Improve the Campus Road Pedestrian Gate!

City of Los Angeles

Gate with Bollard Barriers between Yosemite Rec Center & Campus Road

Campus Road provides a vital car-free connection for Eagle Rock residents to travel between the Occidental College neighborhood and Yosemite Recreation Center, Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School, and other destinations in the community. However, outdated barriers installed decades ago make the gate inaccessible to people pushing child strollers and bicycles. Redesigning this entry point will allow more neighbors to move freely without depending on a car to cover the short distance.

To better connect Northeast LA residents and visitors to destinations and to each other, we are requesting that the City of Los Angeles - including the Departments of Public Works, Recreation & Parks, and Transportation - redesign the entry gate between Campus Road and Yosemite Recreation Center to remove the hard bollards barriers and improve the aesthetics of this key passageway.

Campus Road provides a vital car-free connection for Eagle Rock residents to travel between the Occidental College neighborhood and Yosemite Recreation Center, Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School, and other destinations in the community. However, the existing barriers installed decades ago make the gate inaccessible to people pushing child strollers and bicycles. Redesigning this entry point will allow more neighbors and visitors to move freely without depending on a car to cover the short distance.

This is also an opportunity to improve the general aesthetics of this gateway, including through landscaping and fencing enhancements. As the City and neighborhood continue efforts to revitalize Yosemite Recreation Center, making this entry point more accessible, comfortable, and beautiful will play an important role.

Thank you for considering our concerns and request.
