Implement the NHS Higher Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) in Cambridge!

CEOs of Cambridge NHS Trusts

Did you know NHS workers in London and some surrounding areas receive the Higher Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) on top of their salary, as part of Agenda for Change?

In HCAS fringe areas, including parts of Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire and Essex, NHS workers receive a 5% payment on top of their salary.

Cambridge isn't considered a HCAS fringe area, despite a recent Zoopla report finding the city has the second most expensive rent in the country outside London. Local high costs are worsened by national trends: the weekly food shop costs 40% more now than it did in 2020 and your pay awards in the last decade have not reflected this.

Our city has been designated a priority growth area by Starmer's Labour government, but that growth will be impossible to sustain if essential workers are deprived of a decent quality of life due to ever-rising costs.
