The violent insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th was fueled by baseless lies about the 2020 election from then-President Trump and his allies -- including My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Lindell has become a household name thanks to his shameless propagation of Trump’s conspiracy theories. He was kicked off of Twitter early this year for repeatedly violating the platform’s civic integrity policy -- and he was even sued by a voting machine company for defamation.

But despite all of this -- and even after Americans have lost their lives because of the lies that Lindell continues to spread -- Jimmy Kimmel has invited Lindell to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, his popular late-night show.

Frankly, that’s outrageous. Giving Lindell more unchecked airtime only further endangers the American people. This attempt to overthrow our democracy cannot be treated as just another political debate -- and there is no “both sides” argument when it comes to a violent insurrectionist movement that remains a threat to our national security.

Lindell already has a megaphone that’s vastly larger than most Americans will ever have -- this is not about freedom of speech or censorship. Rather, it’s about recommitting a boundary that many in the media seem to have abandoned: those inciting violence with malicious propaganda should not be given a platform to spread it.

Jimmy Kimmel may think Lindell’s appearance is just an amusing bit, but by giving him a platform, Kimmel is telling his millions of viewers that Lindell’s lies are worth hearing.
