Protect Midwest Jobs, Save the Joslin Plant!

J.B Pritzker, Governor of Illinois

On August 13th, over 2,500 workers at Tyson Foods in Joslin, Illinois were suddenly told they were laid off and the plant was closing. Many of the workers have been there for years and decades, putting in long hours to feed the whole country, only to find themselves kicked to the curb with a tiny severance. Tyson Foods reported a third-quarter profit of $182 million, and it has received millions in tax credits from the people of Illinois. Now, the plant’s closure is expected to cost the Quad Cities area $116 million in lost wages.

By signing this petition, you are supporting Tyson Workers United in their demand for Governor Pritzker to seize the Joslin plant.

After signing, you will be shared a script and phone number to call Governor Pritzker's office today.

Governor Pritzker,

I am writing to you to express the support of the undersigned for the workers of the Joslin Tyson plant who lost their jobs in August. We are outraged by these 2,500 layoffs and the company's greed. We support the call of the workers for you to invoke your legal right to eminent domain to keep the factory open and the jobs in Joslin.

Under the US Constitution and Illinois state law, the governor has the right to take control of the plant for "public use," and you most now invoke it for the good of the state.

We encourage you to act in your full capacity to seize this plant and keep these jobs here in Illinois.
