Justice for Jaykie: End Police Violence in San Joaquin County
San Joaquin County Sheriff Pat Withrow & District Attorney Tori Salazar
December 2nd will be the one-year anniversary of the life-threatening assault of Jacob “Jaykie” Servin inside San Joaquin County Jail. One year without knowing the names of the officers who called him racist slurs while beating him so badly they almost broke his neck. One year without knowing if any disciplinary action was taken; one year of assuming the officers have kept their jobs without so much as a slap on the wrist.
The only person in all of San Joaquin County who can hold officers inside of the jail accountable is the Sheriff himself. Sheriff Pat Withrow’s response has been to present an entirely different account that is clearly inconsistent with video evidence, not to mention inconsistent with Mr. Servin’s character.
Video obtained by ABC 10 shows compliant and relaxed Mr. Servin being led past empty holding cells to one that is conveniently off-camera. In this cell is where he describes being brutally beaten by officers who called him racist slurs. Sheriff Withrow presented a narrative in which Mr. Servin attacks officers and gives them a fight for their life, but the surveillance video shows officers putting on gloves entering the cell and other officers calmly standing in the doorway watching the brutal encounter taking place. Even the Sergeant is seen casually walking up and watching with his hands in his pockets. The Sheriff stated that his own officers were covered in blood and were beaten badly, never mentioning Mr. Serivn’s physique or how he came to be so badly brutalized. The Sheriff's words are in question from the surveillance video showing Mr. Servin fearing for his life, who was the only one covered in his own blood, handcuffed, stumbling and appearing to be pleading with officers.
Since recovering from the nearly fatal injuries, Mr. Servin has become a committed activist for civil rights and police brutality. Since Mr. Servin’s life threatening incident, he has seen that he is not the only person who has been assaulted by officers in San Joaquin County. It is clear to see that Sheriff Withrow has no qualms about lying to cover up the culture of violence and abuse. There is no one who can hold him accountable--except the voters and public seeking justice for Mr. Servin and the safety within California communities against police brutality, corruption and abuse of authority.
Please sign and share this petition to demand transparency and accountability from Sheriff Withrow, and join the Justice for Jaykie Press Conference on Wednesday , December 2nd in Stockton, CA by watching on The Gathering for Justice Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Youtube account.

We demand action in the case of Jacob Servin, who was assaulted by officers in San Joaquin County Jail one year ago on December 2, 2019.
The severity of Mr. Servin's injuries indicate cause for public concern, as does the recent history of allegations of excessive use of force at this facility that is consistent with his narrative and his grave injuries. We call for transparency and accountability from the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, and an independent investigation by San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office.
It’s unacceptable that after so much time has passed, the public still has no knowledge of who the officers are and whether any disciplinary action has been taken. Officers who abuse their power and violently assault people in their custody--as well as officers who watch this abuse without intervening--should be fired and charged for their crimes.
Sheriff Withrow, we demand you release the names of the officers who assaulted Mr. Servin, as well as their disciplinary records.
District Attorney Salazar, we demand you give the public the current status of the investigation into this incident, and tell us when we can expect a decision to be made. We encourage you to create new policies that will prevent this kind of abuse of power and premeditated violence towards people inside San Joaquin County Jail.
To do anything less would be inconsistent with the efforts that this county has made to raise the standards of leadership.
