Justice for tiny kitten brutally set on fire by sadist

Southland Police Commander

When a woman in Gore, NZ came home from work one recent afternoon, she found the unthinkable: Her 4-month-old-kitten Haezel was lying on the ground with her fur burned to a crisp, moaning in pain.

"The smell was horrific," she said. The innocent kitten had apparently been purposely set on fire.

Haezel was covered in burn marks -- and after immediately dousing her in water, her humans rushed her to the vet for medical treatment. While the kitten managed to survive the ordeal, much of the fur on her face and body was charred.

Haezel is also emotionally scarred. Her heartbroken caretaker stated that Haezel has undergone a personality change as a result of the attack, and that the once outgoing and friendly cat has now become timid and fearful.

This act of torture is inexcusable and must not be tolerated. It is imperative that the individual behind this sickening crime is brought to justice. Sign this petition to urge Gore police to treat this case with the severity it deserves and make every effort to find and prosecute the person who did this.

I was appalled to learn about a 4-month-old kitten named Haezel in Gore, who was cruelly set on fire by an unknown attacker while her owner was at work. This case must be treated with the severity it deserves, and whoever committed this heartbreaking act must not get away with such cruelty.

I urge you to make every effort to find the person who set fire to this innocent kitten and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law -- including enacting a lifetime ban on ever going near an animal again.
