Keep Cranford Swimming: Demand a Strategic Plan, Not Pool Closures
Cranford Township
Friends of Cranford Pools is a volunteer group committed to keeping both of Cranford’s community pools open and sustainable. These pools are vital town assets that bring families together and should be preserved for future generations.
We’ve created a Revitalization Plan that shows how the Swim Pool Utility can thrive and operate at a surplus.

Dear Township Committee,
We, the undersigned residents of Cranford, respectfully request that the Township Committee take the following actions to preserve and revitalize our community pools before making a decision to close a valuable township asset:
1) Commit to keeping both Orange Avenue and Centennial Avenue Pools open for the 2026 season at minimum to allow the Swim Pool Utility, the Township and volunteers enough time to implement material changes within the Swim Pool Utility that will result in higher revenue-generating activities.
2) Develop and share a long-term strategic plan for the Cranford Swim Pool Utility, including governance, leadership restructuring, development/improvements of the facilities and financial sustainability for all possible scenarios. Determine their long term viability
3) Within the strategic plan, include a business plan and projections before making the decision to make changes to the utility, as well as having each pool appraised.
4) Make a dedicated effort to strengthen marketing, operations, programming, and community partnerships to increase revenue and memberships from both residents and neighboring towns.
Prioritize transparency and communication with residents by reporting membership trends, financials, and capital planning annually in a more public manner.
By signing, we ask the Township Committee to show the same commitment as the residents in protecting these vital recreational assets for our families and community.
