Hands off Demand Kim: Stop the Deportation Now!

Demand Kim with his Family

ICE is trying to deport Demand Kim based on a criminal case that literally does not exist!

We are organizing to keep him home. Demand is a father, organizer, and community member who ICE is trying to deport for no reason, as early as Wednesday December 10th. ICE claims that Demand has a deportation order based on an old criminal case – but that case was thrown out in 2020! ICE has no legal grounds to deport Demand, who has lived in the US since 1982.

We know that the deportation of any of our community members is a targeted attack not just on individuals and their families, but also our entire community. Demand, who has built his whole life here in Rhode Island, deserves to stay home with his kids and family. And our community deserves to keep him home too.

Help us fight back! Make calls and emails all day long (as many as you can) to say: keep Demand home!

Just as our people were forcibly removed from their homes in Southeast Asia due to US imperialism and militarism during the American War on Southeast Asia 50 years ago, now our people are being forcibly removed from their homes in the US once more. This is not a unique experience - many immigrant communities have been subjected to the same violence by the United States. Enough is enough! End all deportations and keep our communities together!

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to demand that you stop the unjust deportation of Demand Kim (A# 025-332-098) by ICE. In 2020 Rhode Island courts provided post conviction relief to Demand Kim over a 20-year-old conviction from 1996. They found that Demand’s rights were violated and have upheld this decision. Demand served his time and has taken all the necessary steps to obtain relief. If the only grounds for his deportation is this overturned conviction, how then can ICE deport Demand based on something that no longer exists?

Since then, Demand has been an essential part of our community and his own family, whom he provides for. Demand belongs at home, and I am part of the broader community that is coming together in support of him. We urge you to stop this cruel and legally unusual deportation, and to ensure that Demand can stay with his family and our community for good.

Use your power to intervene or advocate on Demand Kim's behalf for himself, his family, and the community at large.

Thank you for your time, attention, and service to our community.
