A petition sent to The National School Boards Association, The School Superintendents Association, and The National PTA,

This petition is to clearly request that you do not invite Betsy DeVos into our public schools. Mrs. DeVos has for over two decades done nothing but fund attacks on our public schools, fund attacks on LGBTQ youth and their families, and fund attacks on the teaching profession. Her work in Michigan led to the dismantling of public education in Detroit. Her performance during her hearings for Secretary of Education displayed a grossly unqualified candidate who bought her way into the position. Her recent statements about teachers -"They're waiting to be told what they have to do, and that's not going to bring success to an individual child," - was insulting and demeaning to the teaching profession. Her goal is, and always will be, to liquidate our public school system. She is not going to change by visiting public schools because her goal is to dismantle them. We are demanding that you protect our public school children from her. We are demanding that you protect our public school teachers from her. We are demanding that you protect our public schools from her. Do not invite her to visit our public schools!
