[Your Name]
Dear Mayor Morgan and Kernersville Board of Aldermen,
I am writing to express my opposition to Williams Transco’s proposed Southeast Supply Enhancement Project. I am concerned about the project’s negative impacts to community safety, health, environmental harms and impeding the region’s transition to clean, renewable energy.
I am particularly concerned about how close the pipeline right of way is to two major medical centers, schools, and many homes.
There are currently three large diameter pipelines in that right of way, each only 25 feet apart, when the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America recommends 50 feet between pipelines in order to insure construction safety. We don’t know how this construction would be handled, and it introduces an unusually high amount of risk for such a sensitive area. There are severe health and safety impacts to North Carolina citizens through the air, water, and soil pollution that will be brought about by this project.
Your added voice will speak to FERC and NC DEQ and let them know this Board shares my concerns. I urge you to pass a resolution against Transco’s proposed Southeast Supply Enhancement Project (SSEP).
Respectfully,
