Tell CSU Charlie Kirk isn't Welcome on our Campus!

Colorado State University's chapter of Turning Point USA has invited their founder, Charlie Kirk, to our campus for the second stop of his America Comeback Tour. Charlie Kirk is directly affiliated with Trump, from his statements of support, to his advisory role, and his direct involvement in Trump's 2024 campaign. The Trump administration has made our campus one of its targets in their ongoing war on education. They have revoked student visas from our international students, threatened our federal funding, and has slapped our university with legal complaints through the 'America First legal' group. There is No Place for Hate in Colorado State, and a mouthpiece for the creeping authoritarianism of the Trump administration should not have a place on our campus.

In the strongest possible terms the students of CSU condemn CSU administration’s decision to host Charlie Kirk on our campus. The choice to have a mouthpiece of the Trump administration on our campus as they revoke visas from our international students, threaten to cut our funding, and harass our university with legal complaints is baffling. In 2018, Kirk's visit coincided with “unapologetic Nazis” marching on the Lory Student Center plaza. Kirk attracts the kinds of people that make students unsafe. Tony Frank, the director of the board of Governors, said as much in his statement, No Place For Hate at Colorado State. Kirk’s platform does not promote genuine discourse or debate, but rather, promotes hyper-partisanism and the Republican Party’s strategy of disunity. The students of CSU hope to see a campus and country where we can have real conversations instead of hatred and mudslinging for viral clips on the internet.
We, the Students of CSU, humbly request Amy Parsons and the Board of Governors to rescind Charlie Kirk’s invite to our campus.
