Labour MPs: Stand together with Jeremy, challenge Starmer

Labour Party MPs

The Labour Party is dying on its feet. Members are leaving, money is draining away and it is in no fit state to take on the government. Instead of standing up for ordinary people, Starmer and David Evans have supported the Tories' catastrophic mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic, turning their fire instead on their own MPS and members. The only people who can call time on this farce are MPs. Genuine progressives must show courage and challenge Starmer's position as leader.

We, the undersigned, are outraged by the decision of Keir Starmer not to restore the Labour whip, and thus to exclude Jeremy from the Parliamentary Labour Party.

This decision demonstrates that Jeremy's suspension had nothing to do with fighting anti-semitism, and everything to do with carrying out a political attack against the left. The subsequent suspension of other Labour members for condeming Jeremy's punishment only adds further weight to this assertion. We also believe that these actions show that Labour is no longer a safe space for genuine progressives, including the PLP: Progressive MPs will be picked off one by one if they don't stand together to challenge Starmer now.

We therefore demand the immediate reinstatement of Jeremy Corbyn as a Labour MP, along with the immediate reinstatement of any members who have been unjustly suspended for showing solidarity with Jeremy.

We also affirm that we have no confidence in Keir Starmer, who has demonstrated incompence and cast aside his mandate and David Evans, who has failed to follow proper process, have demonstrated that they are unfit to lead and manage our party at this time when the working class desperately needs a Labour Party that will offer a united fight against the Tories, and for bold socialist policies. We appeal to the basic decency of Labour MPs in the the hope that you will see sense and remove Starmer to pave the way for a competent leader capable of providing the opposition the UK desperately needs.
