Labour, stop attacking Brum bin workers! It's time to get in the room and deliver!
The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government
The minister responsible for local government and the government's commissioners are blocking a deal for refuse workers at Birmingham City Council.
The refuse workers are not asking for a pay rise, they are fighting against huge pay cuts up to £8,000! As well as facing the threat of compulsory redundancies.
Government commissioners are blocking any deal and supporting the Council, meanwhile the Commissioners are being paid up to £1,200 per day and councillors allowances are due to rise again.
The reality is that this is austerity "Mark 2". And once again it's the workers who are being asked to pay for a mess they did not create. The minister could intervene and tell the commissioners to negotiate a deal but she is missing in action. She has refused to negotiate and is hiding behind the people she employs.

Dear Secretary of State,
We the undersigned urge you to tell the Commissioners to get out the way and negotiate a deal with the refuse workers at Birmingham City Council.
The Labour Government are profiting from the Council's debt by hiking interest rates which is making the Government £9 million per year.
The people of Birmingham should not be ripped off by a Labour Government and focus should be to immediately renegotiate the debt.
Thank you for your interest and for supporting Unite’s campaign Ι This petition will be shared with Steve Reed, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA
