LandSea Camp and Catering Services: Stop violating the Temporary Foreign Worker Program!
Morey Maslak, Landsea General Manager; Christine Kennedy, Woodfibre LNG President
Demand accountability from Woodfibre LNG's floatel contractor, Landsea Camp and Catering Services! They have reportedly breached TFWP rules and are underpaying migrant workers.
This comes after Woodfibre LNG’s June 2024 decision to withdraw the floatel from the Temporary Use Permit process with the District of Squamish.

We, the undersigned, call on Woodfibre LNG contractor LandSea Camp and Catering Services to immediately cease actions that violate the rules of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
LandSea operates worker accommodation facilities at various locations in Western Canada, including a “floatel” in Squamish, British Columbia, used to house workers for the Woodfibre LNG project. Reports from current employees, combined with publicly available records, suggest concerning breaches of the TFWP, including:
1. Replacing Local Workers: LandSea has reportedly laid off local workers and replaced them with individuals brought to Canada under the TFWP, despite the program’s requirement that temporary foreign workers only be hired when no Canadians or permanent residents are available.
2. Underpaying Migrant Workers: Workers hired through the TFWP at the Squamish floatel are reportedly being paid lower wages than their Canadian counterparts.
3. Ignoring Local Job Applicants: Reports indicate that workers within Canada who have applied for positions at the floatel have not received responses to their applications, nor have they been hired, even as LandSea continues to bring in temporary foreign workers.
These practices undermine the integrity of the TFWP, harm local workers, and exploit vulnerable migrant workers by subjecting them to lower wages and limited mobility. They violate the spirit and rules of the TFWP, which is intended to address genuine labor shortages and not to displace or disadvantage Canadian workers.
We call on LandSea Camp and Catering Services to uphold their responsibilities as employers and respect the rights of all workers. Exploitative labor practices harm not only individuals but the broader community.
