Legislative and political professionals stand with restaurant workers

Starr Restaurants and Knightsbridge Restaurant Group

Stand with workers at some of D.C.’s most prominent—and lucrative—restaurants in their fight for dignity at work.

This January, workers at Le Diplomate, Rasika, Modena, Pastis, and St. Anselm publicly announced that they are organizing for respect, stability and a seat at the bargaining table. These workers hope that restaurant owners Stephen Starr and Ashok Bajaj will follow the example of José Andrés, who voluntarily recognized the workers’ union at The Bazaar just days after they announced their campaign. Sign this pledge to let them know you have their backs!

As legislative and political professionals who work in Congress, government relations, advocacy, and other adjacent industries, we are the core of Washington, D.C.’s restaurant going public. D.C. restaurants are the heart and soul of our city.  It is important for us to stand up and sign the pledge today. For now, we will proudly eat at these restaurants, but if the workers call for a boycott, we will happily join.

As legislative and political professionals, we know that D.C. restaurants are the heart and soul of our city.

The restaurant industry in Washington, D.C. can only thrive if restaurant workers are allowed to thrive too. That is why we stand with the workers at the Starr restaurants and Knightsbridge Restaurant Group in their struggle to protect their rights and dignity at work by forming a union at Le Diplomate, Pastis, St. Anselm, Rasika, and Modena.

While we proudly eat at these restaurants for now, if the workers were to call for a boycott or other means of support, we will join them.

Sincerely,
