List Pali Lanes in the Hawai'i Register of Historic Places!
Hawai'i Historic Places Review Board
The Hawai‘i Register of Historic Places is an official list of properties that have been recognized for their significance to the history, architecture, archaeology, or culture of Hawai‘i communities. Listing on the Register comes with many benefits, and getting Pali Lanes listed on the register will allow us to strongly make the case for it not to be demolished.
Alexander & Baldwin knows this, and is opposing the nomination. Submit a letter using this form to the Hawai'i Historic Places Review Board letting them know why you think Pali Lanes is an important part of our history! Let's make sure our voices continue to be heard.

I am writing in support of the nomination of Pali Lanes to the Hawai'i Register of Historic Places. Built in 1961, Pali Lanes has been a staple of the community for decades and is the last major remnant of "Old Kailua." The building is essential to Kailua town's character and has been the site of many important moments large and small throughout Kailua's history. In addition to its cultural importance, its architectural significance further adds to the Pali Lanes building's historic value. Today, the Pali Lanes building is the host of the Hale Kealoha Hawaiian restaurant and catering service, a hula halau, programming for Special Olympics and other disabled youth, countless bowling leagues, school programs, birthday parties, spontaneous family gatherings, and so much more. It is also one of the last publicly accessible bowling alleys on Oahu. It has served as a community hub and gathering place throughout history and hopefully can continue to do so for generations to come with the support of the Hawai'i Historic Places Review Board in listing it in the Register and supporting its protection.
