L'ORÉAL: PLEDGE TO BE TOXIC-FREE
L’Oréal USA CEO Frederic Roze
We should be able to trust that the products we buy are safe — especially ones we use every day, applied directly to our lips.
CALPIRG recently surveyed popular lip products like lipsticks and lip balms and found that many popular lip products contain chemicals of concern such as fragrance/parfum and parabens that have been linked to cancer, reproductive problems, and hormone disruption. And the FDA does not require ingredients to be tested or approved for human safety before they are added into our personal care products and cosmetics, so manufacturers can use nearly any ingredient they choose to use.
That's why we're calling on L’Oréal to Pledge to be Toxic-Free.
With the help of our coalition partners, we’ve already delivered more than 150,000 petition signatures calling on the multinational cosmetic giant to eliminate cancer causing chemicals and to disclose its secret “fragrance” chemicals.
Sign our petition to L’Oréal, and show them that consumers want them to be a leader, and Pledge to be Toxic-Free.
By providing my contact information, I am consenting to have CALPIRG Students, the Student PIRGs, and their affiliates contact me with information about this and future campaigns.

I'm concerned about the safety of ingredients in personal care products. There should not be chemicals linked to negative health effects like cancer, developmental and reproductive problems, and more in the products we apply to our bodies every day.
As a leading personal care products company, you have the power and the responsibility to address this public health concern by ensuring your products are safe and your customers are fully informed. Please identify and eliminate from your products’ chemicals linked to negative health effects, and replace them with safer alternatives. In addition, please disclose the ingredients in "fragrance" in your products.
These changes will not only address a growing public health threat, they will meaningfully respond to the strong consumer demand for safe personal care products.
