Make RUSD board meetings virtual so they are safe for all!!
Redlands Unified School District
In the last board meeting on 8/10/2021, anti-maskers broke the rules and refused to properly wear masks. ("see if you can get away with taking it off or at least keeping it below your nose", as instructed by an organizer)
This unruly act put all of us parents at risk while attending the meeting. Participating in a public meeting is OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT, and the so-called anti-masker "patriots" are challenging our right by making the meeting environment unsafe for all.
We are demanding the RUSD school board meetings to be held online / virtually until the most recent Covid-19 surge subsides.

On 8/5/2021 there were 744 new cases of Covid-19 in San Bernardino County. Unfortunately, this trend seems to be continuing upwards.
We need to allow the public to have the opportunity to participate in our school board meetings, but due to the recent Covid-19 surge, it is not safe to do so in person. Although the district has stated numerous times that they will enforce masks worn indoors at these meetings, there are members of the community who are unwilling to do so.
As of the last board meeting on 8/10/2021, many members of the audience refused to wear their mask, refused to put a mask on, or refused to properly wear a mask. These acts of defiance put members of the community at risk of contracting Covid-19.
According to a instructions distributed by the Redlands Tea Party Patriots, "The Redlands School District website states everyone must provide proof of vax or wear a face mask. Once you're in, see if you can get away with taking it off or at least keeping it below your nose." This proves a concerted effort to put members of the public at risk of contracting Covid-19 by refusing to properly wear a face mask.
We are petitioning for future school board meetings to be held online until the most recent Covid-19 surge subsides.
