union members and supporters

Stop Trump’s Murderous Takeover: Unite the Labor Movement to Defend Human Rights and Lives

The Trump/Miller/Vance presidency are attacking all our democratic rights. They invaded Minneapolis and tried to in effect put it under martial law. Now they are threatening to take over the upcoming elections. Tens of thousands in Minnesota have stood up to them, but it's labor that has the real power to stop the imperial presidency. Where are they? Union members and supporters can and must organize to make the unions step up front and center before it's too late.

To union members and supporters:
Donald Trump is presenting a serious and growing threat to American democracy. It’s in the news every day.

We’re watching an increasingly aggressive use of presidential power, especially through ICE and other federal agencies. The invasion of Minnesota raises real concerns about how far the government is willing to go. This isn’t just about immigration or law enforcement; it’s about intimidation and repression.

As the Epstein situation continues to unfold, Trump’s behavior has become more erratic and volatile. The more pressure he’s under, the more he lashes out at anyone who opposes him He is now threatening to “nationalize” the midterm elections - which could involve voter suppression, seizure of voting machines, or outright use of force to maintain control.
Trump’s seizure of power has already hurt workers: his unlawful tariffs and attacks on undocumented workers, combined with his attacks on healthcare and SNAP, have made life unaffordable for us as the billionaires get richer and our wages stagnate. His firing of huge numbers of unionized federal workers along with the gutting of the NLRB show that if Trump is able to break our democratic institutions, unions and working people are will be among the first to pay the price.

Working people in Minnesota have inspired the nation by organizing to stand up to ICE and Trump - they sparked a nationwide movement to protest and resist, even calling for a nationwide general strike to oppose Trump. Protests are a start, but history shows that the real victories are won when workers shut down production and threaten capitalism's profits.
But the union leadership is largely not addressing this reality. They are mostly bureaucrats who sell out their own members and have no interest in standing up to Trump to defend our democratic and union rights. So we will have to challenge them: force them to act or replace/displace them. They can’t be ignored.

As such, this petition exists for a simple reason: workers need a way to find each other and develop ways to connect unionized workers to the struggles against this massive threat to working people and unions across this nation.

By signing, you’re saying you recognize the danger, you’re frustrated by the lack of leadership, and you believe rank-and-file union members need to start talking, and building a worker-to-worker network — across locals, trades, and industries. We will need to raise motions to demand our leaders mobilize the unions to defend our rights, and form rank-and-file groups that can mobilize contingents to join the fightback when the union leaders won't.
This isn’t about party loyalty or political identity. It’s about protecting the conditions that make unions and democracy possible at all.

If you think this moment is serious, and you don’t want to be isolated or unprepared, add your name.

In solidarity.
