Morgellons Disease: Urgent Call for Federal Review and Validation
The Honourable Marjorie Michel, M.P. Federal Minister of Health
By signing the Morgellons United petition, you are directly supporting the worldwide recognition and validation of Morgellons disease as a legitimate physical illness.
This petition is being formally directed to the Federal Minister of Health of Canada, who has the authority and responsibility to reopen the Government of Canada’s investigation into Morgellons disease. Since 2009, scientific evidence has advanced dramatically, confirming that Morgellons is a physical disease associated with skin fibers composed of human proteins such as keratin and collagen — evidence that was not available during earlier government assessments.
Government recognition is the turning point. Once Morgellons disease is officially acknowledged and properly investigated, it opens the door to proper medical testing, accurate diagnosis, clinical guidance, research funding, disability support, and humane healthcare free from stigma or psychiatric dismissal.
This petition is about public accountability, scientific truth, and the basic right of patients to be treated with dignity.

Dear Minister Marjorie Michel,
This petition arises in response to the prolonged inaction by the federal government regarding Morgellons disease, the overwhelming body of new scientific evidence that compels immediate and lawful attention, and the urgent requirement that the government ensure healthcare supports are provided to Morgellons patients.
In 2009, the Office of the Federal Minister of Health acknowledged Morgellons disease as a newly emerging public health concern and stated that the Public Health Agency of Canada was monitoring the issue. That position was conditional — based explicitly on the limited evidence available at the time — and it effectively confirmed that no healthcare supports were being provided to Morgellons patients.
Seventeen years have passed since your office issued its first and only public statement of recognition on the Morgellons disease healthcare crisis. Since then, peer-reviewed scientific research has confirmed a biological basis for the condition. This physical illness is now properly characterized by the presence of skin fibres composed of keratin and collagen – proteins produced within the human body itself. This distinct biological marker has now been validated repeatedly through laboratory analysis and was not available at the time of the federal government's initial 2009 assessment.
Despite this clear shift in scientific understanding, the government does not formally recognized Morgellons as a physical disease. Furthermore, the 2009 federal investigation has not been reopened ever since that time and all efforts to monitor this disease have been abandoned. As a direct consequence, a significant portion of the Canadian population continue to experience profound suffering — denied recognition, appropriate medical care, and the dignity they are owed under Canadian and international law obligations. Here in Canada, Morgellons patients are prescribed antipsychotic medications and informed by the medical establishment that the only way to be cured is if they stop believing this disease is real — an unsubstantiated position that leads to further harm and worsening of the condition, despite the presence of objective biological findings.
It now undeniable that the CDC’s 2012 Morgellons investigation — still used as the foundational basis by governments and medical institutions to justify denial, neglect, and forced psychiatric labeling — has now been definitively exposed as scientifically illegitimate. Dr. Randy Wymore of Oklahoma State University’s Center for the Investigation of Morgellons Disease, who served as the official peer reviewer of the CDC’s own study, has gone on record confirming that fiber samples were collected from only 12 test subjects — and not a single one of them actually had Morgellons disease. This means the CDC’s conclusions were never scientifically valid to begin with, and cannot be ethically, lawfully, or medically used to deny recognition, care, or the basic rights of patients. The continued reliance on that flawed investigation has enabled widespread harm, institutional gaslighting, and contributed directly to preventable suffering — including numerous deaths by suicide.
This petition does not seek special treatment. It seeks only what justice requires: a lawful, good-faith review of new evidence and a renewed investigation by the appropriate federal authority.
We, the undersigned, therefore call upon the Government of Canada to:
1. Review the current scientific evidence relating to Morgellons disease — including findings that confirm the presence of human-derived keratin and collagen fibers embedded in the skin (morgellonsunited.com/research);
2. Direct the Public Health Agency of Canada to formally reopen its investigation into Morgellons disease, in light of this materially changed evidentiary landscape; and
3. Ensure that the outcome of this renewed investigation results in appropriate recognition, clinical guidance, research funding, and healthcare support — grounded in current medical evidence and free from stigma or discrimination.
Failure to act now not only escalates suffering and delays justice, it constitutes a failure of the State to fulfill its legal and moral duty in the face of clear and advancing scientific acknowledgment. The unmanaged spread of this disease across Canada is not a hypothetical risk — it is an ongoing reality which continues to spiral out of control. Without federal intervention, the number of infected Canadians will continue to rise while stigma, neglect, and harm to vulnerable disabled persons persist.
With the utmost urgency, we respectfully request a formal public response from the Government of Canada, by your office as the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Federal Minister of Health. This petition and your response will be published at morgellonsunited.com as part of a transparent, lawful effort to ensure accountability and meaningful public health action, for Canadians whose health outcomes fall under your direct mandate and authority.
Signed,
The Canadian public and the International Community
