Hilton Metrotown has cut off almost 50 of its laid-off workers’ employment insurance benefits in a direct attack on its locked out and laid-off workers. This comes as the hotel’s lockout enters its third week after terminating 97 workers, and affects those, primarily women and people of colour, who have been out of work for months.

Affected workers have been cut off for nearly two weeks. As federal Employment Minister of Canada, we call on you to intervene and protect laid-off Hilton Metrotown workers so they don’t lose desperately needed income supports amid the third wave of the pandemic!
