Tell MPS: Prioritize Students & Frontline Workers in the Budget, Not More Administration

Superintendent Cassellius and School Board Directors

MTEA stands with the Milwaukee community and MPS families and students for fully staffed schools and classrooms. Milwaukee voters voted yes in referenda votes to ensure that students in classrooms would be prioritized and fully staffed.

MPS Superintendent Cassellius and Board President Zombor plan to withhold full cost of living adjustments (2.63%) from frontline school workers as they continue to invent new high paid central office administrator jobs, give raises between 30K - 70K to 26 C.O. administrators since September and increase all principals to 12 month contracts.

Cassellius's and Zombor's irresponsible and dangerous plan abandons students by prioritizing high salary bosses and attacking frontline workers dedicated to MPS students. Their scheme will explode the approximately 250 current teacher and educational assistant vacancies by driving committed public education workers to retire early and leave MPS for neighboring districts that respect frontline workers.

Let's make sure referenda dollars end up where voters wanted them, with students and frontline workers in classrooms not with a bloated Administration. Show your support for a full cost of living adjustment (2.63%) on July 1, 2026, for all frontline workers. Tell the Superintendent and MPS Board to pass a budget that protects students and frontline workers using savings from MPS contracts, 8 million in LTE administrative contracts, millions paid out for central office administrators' vacations, and in the Superintendent's bloated central office.

Pass a budget that protects MPS students and classrooms, not Administration. Act now to stabilize our classrooms and retain all MPS frontline workers through a budget with full CPI (2.63%), salary step movement for all eligible workers and no cuts to healthcare.
