Call for Nationwide Ban on Knee-to-Neck Restraint

United States Congress

May 25th, 2020 is a day that will go down in history as the day George Perry Floyd Jr., an African American man, was killed by positional asphyxia by police. In light of numerous medical experts' critical testimony in the trial of George Floyd's murder, we the people are calling for a national ban on "Knee to Neck Restraint" also known as "Maximal Restraint Technique."

Expert testimony given by pulmonologist Dr. Martin J. Tobin, forensic pathologist Dr. Lindsey Thomas, and Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrew Baker describe in great detail the torturous death George Floyd suffered as a result of positional asphyxia. They explained the danger and torture that can occur while using the knee-to-neck restraint. The experts explained Mr. Floyd's actions and his body's reaction to being held down like he was. For example, Mr. Floyd used his knuckles to try and prop his body up so he could breathe. They also explained his body twitches, as shown in a key witness' video footage, were evidence of him suffering brain damage. Make no mistake, George Floyd died as a result of Derek Chauvin's knee on his neck for 9:29.

Please sign this petition to help ensure no other human shall lose their life as a result of a police officer's knee on their neck.

We the people, of the United States of America, demand U.S. Congress issue a nationwide ban on police officers using the "Knee to Neck Restraint" also known as "Maximal Restraint Technique."
