United We Stand - Divided We Fall

As the SCOTUS decision on Janus looms, public educators from all job sections are joining together to support each other through their unions. We will not allow the school reform movement’s corporate leaders to divide us with union busting tactics and legislation!

There remains, however, a section of public school educators who are underrepresented, and about whom misinformation is continuously spread. They are your colleagues who work in public charter schools.

Charter school employees perform the same job duties, with the same education and certification requirements as traditional school employees in New Jersey.

Your colleagues who work in charters are often subjected to deplorable working conditions by their corporate management companies. They have NO COLLECTIVE BARGANING or union representation UNTILL THEY BECOME UNIONIZED.

The road to unionization is often not easy due to countless threats and attacks by corporate charter management companies and appointed, not elected, boards of trustees.

Despite fear mongering by their employers, charter school employees ARE quickly becoming unionized in New Jersey, but THEY NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

Corporate America would love to prevent charter school workers from organizing. Union membership levels the playing field and has been proven to REDUCE the unfettered expansion of charters.

Union affiliation demands that adequate funding be provided for essentials such as student materials, building repairs, and fair employee compensation. These items cut into cooperate charters’ profit margins and force the reduction of vaguely itemized “management fees”.

Charter school employees are on the same side as traditional school employees. They want what’s best for their students and to be fairly compensated for their work.
