As the federal government slashes environmental and climate protections and spending, the need for bold state-level climate action is more critical than ever. That's why we're launching a petition calling on Governor Kathy Hochul to commit to a full and rapid implementation of New York's Climate Act and cap-and-invest program today.

Cap and Invest is a statewide initiative to cap corporate emissions by making major polluters pay for the toxins they dump into our air, allowing the state to invest that money into clean energy efforts across New York State. It will lower pollution, create tens of thousands of clean-energy jobs, and save households and small businesses hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year via energy rebate checks and more.

Every year that New York delays on Cap and Invest is another year that New Yorkers face exorbitant energy costs, polluted air that causes asthma and other health problems, increasingly destructive weather events, and a precarious economy reliant on fossil fuels.
