Nexstar and The Hill: No Layoffs and a Fair Contract!

Perry A Sook, CEO of Nexstar and Bill Sammon, VP of Editorial Content at The Hill

Workers at The Hill, one of the premier news outlets for covering Congress and politics in Washington, DC, have been bargaining their first contract for over two years now.

Nexstar has been threatening layoffs and attempting to direct editorial content under the guise of fairness, when it reality it's being done to gut our union and to curry favor with the current administration.

Sign on to demand Nexstar and Hill management respect our editorial independence, our work, and to bargain a fair contract.

I saw the recent reporting in Semafor about Nexstar and The Hill's blatant attempt to undermine their own journalists in order to curry favor with the current administration.

It seems Nexstar is more interested in throwing their employees under the bus and throwing insults at them than ensuring the publication covers the news accurately.

I stand with The Hill Guild in their defense of their colleagues and their journalistic integrity. I am backing their demands to Nexstar and Hill management to stop their pursuit of layoffs and to bargain a fair contract.
