What is BDS? BDS is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice and equality. BDS is a movement that knows Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity.

Inspired by the South African anti-apartheid movement, the BDS call urges action to pressure Israel to comply with international law.

Israel is illegally occupying and colonizing Palestinian land, discriminating against Palestinian citizens of Israel, and denying Palestinian refugees the right to return to their homes. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has formally found Israel responsible for apartheid, and the president of the non-partisan International Association of Genocide Scholars has declared Israel’s actions against Palestinians in Gaza to be a genocide based on the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Today, BDS is a global movement made up of unions, academic associations, churches, and grassroots organizations across the world. Since its launch in 2005, BDS has had a significant impact and is effectively challenging international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.
No Appetite for Apartheid (NA4A) is a national boycott campaign inspired by long-standing Palestinian boycott tactics and the BDS call. One of the many ways the U.S. subsidizes Israel’s economy is through imported Israeli food products ($396 million in 2019). By targeting this revenue stream with a focused BDS campaign, we can weaken the powers that uphold apartheid.

We are canvassing local stores in our communities and asking them to pledge to become Anti-Apartheid and Apartheid-Free Stores by dropping food products and companies from their shelves that are complicit in the colonization of Palestine. It’s time to turn up the heat on Israel’s apartheid regime and take apartheid off our plates with the #NoAppetiteForApartheid campaign.

We, the undersigned residents of Marin, are opposed to the systems of apartheid, occupation, genocide, and ethnic cleansing that have oppressed the people of Palestine for the past 75 years. As American consumers and taxpayers, we become complicit in these atrocities if we do not act.

Palestinian civil society issued a call in 2005 for a global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement to exert pressure on Israeli companies through targeted consumer boycotts. Today, we answer this call. We pledge to assert our values by participating in BDS consumer boycotts, and we will not purchase products that support Israeli apartheid. We also pledge our support and patronage to any business that pledges to join the No Appetite for Apartheid campaign by not renewing any contracts they may have, and removing products that support Israeli apartheid from their shelves.
