No Fuel for Genocide - Chevron Out of Tampa Bay
Sara Ghannad (United Oil, Inc.) and Basem Ali (Giant Oil, Inc.)
Chevron is the main extractor of fossil gas for apartheid Israel. Chevron fuels up 70% of Israel's electricity grid, including Israeli military bases, prisons, police stations, and illegal settlements. Through the billions of dollars it pays Israel for its gas extraction licenses, Chevron is directly financing Israel’s genocide against Palestinians.
United Oil and Giant Oil are locally-based fuel distributors that own several Chevron stations in Tampa Bay. To expand the boycott on Chevron and significantly reduce our community's complicity in the genocide, United Oil and Giant oil must cut ties with Chevron.

We, the undersigned, call on fuel distributors in Tampa Bay to end the distribution and sale of gasoline and other products supplied by Chevron Corporation.
Chevron is the main extractor of fossil gas for apartheid Israel in the Mediterranean, fueling up 70% of Israel's electricity grid, including Israeli military bases, prisons, police stations, and illegal settlements. Through the billions of dollars it pays Israel for its gas extraction licenses, Chevron is directly financing Israel’s violence against Palestinians.
Chevron’s reputation is suffering due to this complicity with Israeli apartheid, occupation, and genocide. Israel has killed over 75,000 Palestinians since October 2023. In July 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel is guilty of apartheid and illegal military occupation. In September 2025, The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory concluded that Israel has “flagrantly disregarded” the orders of the ICJ and continues to commit genocide.
Through its continued activity in Israel, Chevron is putting all of its franchisees at risk, legally and financially. Chevron’s oil fields face significant physical risk, especially as Israel escalates violence across the region into Lebanon, Iran, and Syria. These fields are potentially major targets, which would significantly damage Chevron’s business.
During the Shell boycott of the 1980s due to the company’s complicity in apartheid South Africa, many Shell partners disaffiliated and opted to switch to other brands, rather than face continued pickets, protests, and potential legal liability and instability from Shell. Tens of thousands of consumers have already signed the pledge to boycott Chevron.
We call on local fuel distributors to:
- Commit to cutting all business ties with Chevron and its subsidiaries Texaco and Caltex.
- Issue a public statement sharing your plans to cut ties and demonstrating your company’s commitment to ethical business practices.
By cutting ties with Chevron, fuel distributors would be taking a meaningful stand against apartheid and genocide and growing the movement for peace and justice.
