How is our sheriff cooperating with ICE?

1. The Marin County Sheriff participated in the “State Criminal Alien Assistance Program,” or SCAAP, a federal program that provides a roughly $1,000 bounty to local law enforcement agencies for reporting information on undocumented immigrants in their custody. Over the past three years, our sheriff’s office has received over $1.2 million for jailing over 1,000 immigrants.
2. The sheriff shares the personal information and release dates of people in their custody. This allows ICE to wait outside the county jail and pick them up for detainment and deportation.
