No More PATRIOT Act
Congress
In the wake of the January 6th riot on Capitol Hill, politicians on both sides of the aisle are calling for new laws that will let them spy on the American public. We’ve seen the government abuse these laws before, performing warrantless surveillance on Black Lives Matter protesters, journalists, and millions of ordinary people just like you and me while ignoring credible threats of violence. We can’t let that happen again. Sign the petition to tell your lawmakers: “No more PATRIOT Act and no more spying on people without a warrant.”
Petition to Congress:
Congress rushed through the Patriot Act over 20 years ago in the name of national security and safety. But the reality has always been that more surveillance does not make us any safer, especially the communities of color who are disproportionately spied on. It's been an entire year since Section 215 of the Patriot Act lapsed and we are just as safe without it. The Patriot Act isn't necessary for national security, and it violates the privacy rights of people living in the United States. We urge you: don't reauthorize the Patriot Act or any other authorities that allow the government to spy on Americans without a warrant. We want Congress to protect our right to privacy.
